About the Artist

My name is Cat Xia (they/them) and I’m an artist in Sacramento, CA who likes to create sad, angry, and cute art. My illustrative narratives trend towards my experiences with climate change, racism, sexism, religion, spirituality, and class warfare. The mediums I am most comfortable with are digital and traditional painting and drawing. I wish I had more resources to experiment.

Most of my work speaks to my experience as a Canadian Chinese American woman living in America. I'm Chinese, but I'm not Chinese. I'm American, but I'm not White. I'm Canadian, but I'm not sorry (lmao). 

We live in a perfectly imperfect world. My body of work has grown from being enraged to being hopeless to acknowledging and finally to seeking peace. I burned out for a long time. I am trying to find a sustainable way to keep my sanity and still make a difference. Even if it’s futile, it’s important to me that I try.
