In My Neighborhood is a traditional Chandra Merod mixed media piece featuring abstract texture, doodling, mark making from found objects, and art journaling to create a textured background and an interesting piece to showcase the face of a beautiful woman. If you look closely, you will find that all the houses in the community were upcycled from craft paper and hand-painted before being collaged onto the canvas.
The need to feel safe and secure in your neighborhood and its importance, which is often taken for granted is what inspired this piece.
Medium: Mixed Media Acrylic
