Artist Statement
In recent years the artist has been incorporating found & discarded materials in his art. This includes food & trash. He also uses house paint, spray paint, construction & shipping materials. He hopes this may get some people to think about the amount of waste we create every day, and how we can reuse and recycle. He also wants people to touch the art to feel what it is like. It’s called “Touchable Art”. Even if something falls off, or it gets a little dirty, it doesn’t matter. It will just add to the character of the art.
Kuraku gives his works numbers and letters. He does not give his work made up names that have no relation to the work. He feels that the viewer of the work should be able to see what they want in the work, and not be limited to, or influenced by an artificial name given by the artist. The viewer can interpret the art for themselves. In the same way, he does not call his art any particular style. It is up to others to say what they think the style is.
