Artist Skye Bergen captures little moments in time by collecting and preserving her favorite bits of nature in clear resin. She collected this empty wasp from her backyard garden and dipped it multiple times in clear epoxy resin. Wasps are important pollinators for flowering plants, and Skye appreciates the masterful design work of their nests, albeit from a safe distance. She fashioned copper wire into a bail and then dipped the wasp nest into resin a second time to secure the bail to the pod.

About The Artist
Skye Bergen only understands the world around her by touching it. She works in plants, textiles, fibers, paint, photography, resin, sculpture, music, and sound to make both wearable and non-wearable art. She makes noise and grows things. Skye is obsessed with pearls and lichen. Having discovered the therapeutic powers of gardening a few years ago, Skye decided that her ultimate life goal is to create and build a grief therapy garden in Sacramento for the public, dedicated to those living with mental illness.
