My beloved Grandfather died at the age of 94. He was an avid traveller, mostly to see airplanes, he left us over 100 photo albums filled with detailed archives of his travels including receipts, baggage tags, itineraries, photos, and a lot of old blank post cards. I started to pull out and collect these post cards to use in collage…there they sat for weeks on my shelf.

One day in January to help my 8 year old son practice parts of speech (and keep him busy off-screen), we started cutting out words from old magazines, making funny sentences and glueing them into my sketchbook. Later that night in my studio I laid out all the words and cut out more. I had the bundle of post cards nearby and added some funny sayings to the cards. I was hooked!

I thought this would be a super fun and easy project to do alone or with friends of family. Once completed you can mail them out to pals! You could even participate in one of the many postcard pen pal projects going on right now.
