The focal interest in this incredible piece is the Neolithic Jade half-moon. I have combined it with a fabulous piece of natural fossilized walrus tusk. There are two lovely vintage carnelian beads and 2 ancient Dzi beads. It is all held together with 4 strands of braided French steel cut beads. These tiny (27-29 beads per inch) are from the Edwardian Era. They were used to create the lovely ladies' purses of the day.
These bags have since become valuable collector's items. I purchase damaged bags and harvest the beads. Disassembling those old purses is a labor-intensive and patience-testing process but well worth the end result because they add incredible fluidity to my designs.
The clasp on this necklace is a vintage bone ring with another piece of fossilized walrus tusk, this one polished. It is 10’ in length. This piece could be worn with Boho or something quite elegant. Just the feel of the Jade and thinking of the stories it could tell give me the chills.
JADE is known to facilitate peace within the physical, emotional, and intellectual structures as well as the materialistic world. It is said to bring harmony and accord to the environment, to transmute negativity, and to instill resourcefulness. It inspires and induces ambition toward the accomplishment of objectives. It helps to attune one to the needs of others and inspires wisdom. It also provides confidence, assisting one in the attainment of self-assuredness, self-reliance, and self-sufficiency.
CARNELIAN This mineral stimulates analytical capabilities and precision. It provides for perceptiveness to situations and awakens ones inherent talents. It is also used to produce inspiration from and connectedness with the spiritual worlds. It protects against envy, fear, and rage and helps to banish sorrow from the emotional structure. The message of Carnelian is that since one IS love, there is nothing to do but to offer the love - each offering of love bringing an exponential increase in the quantity of love returned. It can help to increase physical energy, personal power, creativity, and compassion.
Much of my information regarding the properties of crystals and gems are taken from the FABULOUS, encyclopedic book. "Love Is In The Earth", A Kaleidoscope of Crystals, by Melody, which I highly recommend to anyone who is attracted to the energy of stones.
I suggest that if you live near the sea where the air is salty, that you keep this necklace in a container that will protect the metal from rusting.
